SCAVENGER
Wildlife illustration of the critically endangered white-backed vulture, done in watercolor pencil and acrylic paint.
As scavengers, vultures are often associated with death and decay—a disservice to otherwise beautiful birds with vital roles in the ecosystem. Given the white-backed vulture’s rapid decline from the ongoing threats of poisoning and territory loss, I sought to highlight the power of this bird’s presence and remind that all animals are worth protecting.
